Broadband customers are not getting the top download speeds they are paying for, British communications regulator Ofcom confirmed on Tuesday 28 July 2009…  More
Ofcom failed to break the telecoms price cartels on landline connections,  broadband and the mobile telephone charges. The advertised 8mb claimed speed only delivers less than 4mb (50% less than advertised and claimed). The broadband service providers (BSP), such as BT and Virgin, cripple or fix speed to generate extra revenue. Almost all BSP can reduce line noise and increase power to deliver 10mb or more. In other words, BSP fix or cripple the broadband speed, and then sell the capacity to larger or other customers. Other price-speed fixers named by Ofcome include: AOL, O2, Orange, Plusnet, Sky, TalkTalk, and Tiscali. Ofcom must break the price fixing and speed fixing cartels. Are you satisfied with the price-speed cartels and your BSP or broadband ISP?
